Bio
Born in Boston on December 2, 1983, Daniela Ruah spent the first few years of her life living in the US before her family moved back to Portugal after her father finished his residency at Boston University-Tufts University. Daniela attended international, English-based schools and received a BA in performance from London Metropolitan University. But Daniela was smitten with an acting career at the age of 16 after she landed a role in the Portuguese soap opera Forbidden Gardens. She returned to Portugal after college to pursue her acting career and appeared in several other soap opera and TV series. She won the Portuguese equivalent of the US version of Dancing with the Stars in 2006. Daniela went on to make a number of short films before she was moved to New York to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
In 2009, Daniela won the role of Kensi Blye in NCIS Los Angeles and has been driving her on screen partner, Deeks crazy every since. In 2012 she landed a role in the feature film, Red Tails and lent her voice to Princess Merida in the Portuguese version of Brave.
By the way, did you know that the birthmark in Daniela’s right eye is called the Nevus of Ota? Her one eye is hazel, while the one with the birthmark is blackish/brown. Women are five times more likely than men to have this hyperpigmentation that occurs on the face. Daniela speaks Portuguese and Spanish fluently. She lives in Los Angeles and Portugal and shares her home with her dog Roxy!
