Daniela Ruah Talks Pregnancy On Set of ‘NCIS:LA’
For most people, being pregnant and also shooting intense fight scenes are not things that go together, but for NCIS: Los Angeles’s Daniela Ruah, that isn’t the case.
Ruah plays Special Agent Kensi Blye on the hit CBS crime procedural, and in real life Ruah is several months pregnant with her first child. However, pregnancy hasn’t slowed her down, or kept her from working hard.
ET visited the set of NCIS: Los Angeles, and talked to Ruah about being an expectant mother and the star of a huge television show.
“It’s been awesome,” Ruah said of shooting the show while pregnant. “Everybody has been really accommodating. I think I’ve also been lucky that it hasn’t been a difficult pregnancy at all. I don’t need to sit down every two minutes, and I’m not suffering with morning sickness or anything like that. So it’s been pretty easy physically for me.”
But in a show with as much action and physicality as NCIS: Los Angeles, Ruah has found that she’s needed to step back a bit from the level of intense action she is used to performing.

“My stunt woman has come in maybe more often than she used to,” Ruah said. “But I need her. There are things that I’m like ‘I’m fine guys, I can do this. I can totally jump over the car,’ and they’re just like ‘No. We can’t let you do that.’… I think I want to do more than I am allowed to.”

Decidedly Deeks: Fanfic Challenge #1
There is nothing more epic than a good challenge for a true NCISLA fan.
For November, we have a scintillating goal for those who can write out their thoughts about
Marty Deeks.
Behold.
THE CHALLENGE: Write a short fic about Deeks and Halloween. Tell us about his unknown fears, or how he faced his fears, or what it was like when Deeks participated in Halloween in the past.
Here are the RULES:
- Yes, we know Kensi is part of this equation, but we want the story focused on Deeks. Sorry, but no overt romance. Mention Kensi, yes, fine, great. But NO making out, gushy mush, or necking. If we judge the fic to have too much “romantic stuff” in it, it will be disqualified from getting mentioned. (Don’t get disqualified! We’re begging you!)
- Entries must be posted on Fanfiction.net with the words “NCISLAMagazine Deeks Challenge” in the description.
- No rated M entries allowed.
- All entries must be enabled to receive anonymous reviews.

THE COUPLE | NCIS: Los Angeles’ Kensi and Deeks
THE LATEST | When Deeks up and bought a motorcycle — and then later engaged in an overdone bit of derring-do — Kensi openly feared not just for his physical safety but his mental health, as he seemingly is steal dealing with some PTSD.
SWOON! | During a heart-to-heart with Hetty about how he’s faring, Deeks volunteered, “Kensi’s great” — revealing how significantly his work partner figures into his personal happiness.
THE FORECAST | Hazy. On a good day, Deeks and Kensi play much push-me, pull-you. And if he is still recuperating from mental trauma yet in denial about it, he could just “explode” one day. Plus, as show boss Shane Brennan has teased, with Episode 10 comes a “shocking moment” that will detour the “Densi” relationship.
