There was a reason why Granger was on the ground with Kensi in Afghanistan. He probably wanted Callen to go, because it was a suicide mission and G had no family to miss him. But Hetty told Owen, “My agents, my call.” Since Granger had promised Donald Blye that he would look out for his daughter if anything happened to him, Granger had to be with Kensi to have her back, even if he waa the Assistant Director. The bigger question would be: if Granger was at sniper school with Donald Blye, why didn’t he take the mission himself? Of course we know the answer – that’s not how the script was written.
