Callen’s Corner: The Tuxedo

The poll is complete. The votes are in. The results?

Team Callen may love the man in uniform, and may totally dig the man in jeans, but our hearts go wild when he’s wearing a tuxedo.

Callen Undercover Outfit Fan Favorite Winner: The Tuxedo.

Black, not white. Bow-tie, no neck tie. Pressed, not stressed. Smirking, not lurking. Girl, please. I’ll take two to go.

Behold. The final scene from Season 2, Episode 7:

Deeks: Callen? Come on, man. Chicks really dig the James Bond look.
Callen: Well, I don’t think a little male bonding would hurt anyone. Sam?
Hanna: Hmph. Somebody’s gotta keep you two fools out of trouble.
Deeks: This is what I’m talking about. Because this is going to be awesome! I know the perfect spot, too. We are going to make out like bandits!
HETTY APPEARS
Deeks: Ooo.
Hetty: Gentlemen. Going somewhere?
Callen: Just going to grab a little celebratory cocktail on a job well done.
Hetty: Not in my tuxedos, you’re not.
Hanna: We’ll only be a few hours, Hetty. We won’t get into any fights or anything.
Hetty: March!
Deeks: Now I know how Cinderella felt with her evil stepmother.
Hetty: I heard that, Mr. Deeks.

The undercover assignment was a success. The after-party, however, was not.
Pretty sure Callen, Hanna, and Deeks fans were all severely disappointed.
I mean, I’m still frowning about it.

Back to Callen.

Discussing why we would like him dressed in this hottness over all the rest, our sindee made this observation: “I think it was no surprise that the tuxedo won. It’s always the opposite of the “usual” clothing that people dig. Since Callen dresses like “Oliver Twist” people love seeing him in a suit or tuxedo.”

Point well taken. It really does take Hetty’s genius to pull our hero into clothing that is epic to look at. The formal shirts, the leather jackets, the stark blue dress shirts, the uniforms… these all pop in contrast to the shirt & jeans mixture that Callen usually wears. The tuxedo was just the highest form of “clothing high” we’ve gotten from G to date.

If Callen, himself, had anything to say about it, he’d be wearing the exact same thing undercover.
No variation.
No panache.
Nothing.
Just jeans and a casual shirt.
Again.
And Again.
And yet again…

Team Callen: Thank you, Hetty!!! You are epic!!! Don’t stop!

If we were to see Callen in another tuxedo situation- which we all hope we will- are there any modifications you would make to the look Hetty had him in last time? Tell us in the Comments below.

Callen’s Corner: Callen Comforting Sam

The Five Steps of Grief.

305_cc1The pep talks.

116_cc1The threats.

122_cc1

All ways that Callen comforts the big guy.

Let’s see… Does Callen know how to comfort Sam properly, or not?

Oh. Right. There’s also that sarcastic thing he does.

423_cc1Maybe not.

But, G Callen does know Sam Hanna and what makes him tick.

305_cc2

Aww. See?

That was downright sweet.

“Do you want a hug?” -Callen

Callen’s Corner: Silky Languages

It’s the basis of any good crush: what does he sound like?

Ladies, hang onto your hats, we’re talking about Callen’s language skills.

We all agree, right? There’s something incredibly sexy about the way a guy can speak a language that we don’t know. Have the man tell me my hair looks bad in Spanish, I’ll bat my eyelashes. Have him tell me I’m “a bit of a brumby” with that Australian accent, I’ll giggle like a school girl in the presence of Justin Bieber.

See, it doesn’t matter the words, so much as the flare.
And it doesn’t matter the meaning, so much as the mystery.

When we first heard Callen speak Russian, even with the sound of cold consonants, oh, yes, Team Callen got the shivers, and it had nothing to do with cold.

The questions he posed in Spanish during the first episode. Did anyone else grin stupidly at their television, just eating it up?

What about the “language battle” of sorts with Lauren Hunter? Waltzing through Polish, Russian, German, Italian, French…

Half of us were on the floor. Wait, someone get the smelling salts. We lost a few back there.

We love how everything is translated for us, but let’s be clear: we’d be just fine without fully knowing what’s being said. (I mean, we can Google Translate it later.) We just want the man to speak. Let him get angry and yell it in Russian or Romanian. Let him whisper insults at Deeks’ hair in Polish or Italian. Tell Sam a joke in Spanish. Just let us listen. Please.

The episode where Callen has to speak Chechen to infiltrate the terrorist cell? Even in fumbling through his declension and having Hetty correct him over and over, it was something to behold.

I would love to see a full discussion between Hetty and Callen in another language, just so we could listen to how he sounds for a longer period of time. The last time we had meaningful language fun between the two of them, Russian Scrabble was involved. THAT was fun. A Twitter shout-out for the person who can tell me what episode THAT fun was from.

The rest of you: what language would you like to hear G Callen speak in?

Callen’s Corner: @CallensGirl Interview

Keviana: When I think of die-hard Callen fans, I think of you, @CallensGirl. Thank you so much for agreeing to talk with us!

@CallensGirl: Thank you for thinking of me! I am honored!

As far as Callen fans go, on a scale of 1-10, where do you rank yourself? Have you always been at this level of adoration?

11! I have loved Callen since I found out he was one of Gibb’s boys. I think my level of adoration has grown with him as his character has developed.

Here’s the big question: what is so special about Callen that keeps you a fan?

His heart. He has this beautiful loyal heart! It makes him good at what he does. He may not have “family” by blood, but the team is his family and he takes that just as serious as he takes his job.

I love how you put that. What has been your favorite Callen adventure so far?

Well even though the first few seasons were by far the most heart wrenching for Callen, I really have to say that I loved his pursuit of the truth about his family and the ties to the Comescu family. I particularly liked his involvement once the Comescu came out at the end of the second season. I am a big fan of @craigryoung so it was fun to watch the stand down in season three with Dracul Comescu and Callen.

g8You gave me this as your “Favorite Callen Photo.”

I have so many favorites, but I have to say this photo is my FAVORITE favorite. It always makes me smile =)

Speaking of favorites… Do you have a favorite Sam and G moment?

SO MANY! But my favorite is when they are on the stake out and Callen is eating the tootsie pops and Sam is making the origami of all the different animals.

Tell us how your life has been affected by G Callen being in it for the last 4.2 years.

I most admire his strength and I think what truly touches my heart about Callen is his orphan heart. I identify with it and I am also drawn to it. As much as I want to give him a family I admire his strength for the lack of it. He reminds me to not take my family for granted and not just my birth family, but the family we meet along the way. A lot of us feel alone, even if we have family. He secludes himself at times, I do as well. So I get that. He validates my feelings with his reasons for why he does these things. He remains just as strong with people as he is alone.

That was beautifully awesome. So, for me, personally, I’ve developed a little bit more boldness over the years from watching G Callen face danger and not flinch. Has watching Callen helped develop any personality traits in you?

I think watching Callen has given me a deeper strength when I do stand alone. He knows how to stand strong and be who he is and that is enough for him. I like to think he has helped me to develop that same level of strength in who I am.

What one bit of wisdom would you like to leave all of Team Callen with?

Callen loves first. If you have watched all the seasons you can see this. Everything that he does comes from the loss of his family and the love he has for his team family. He is all about Familia, which is why I think Chris O’Donnell plays that well. He is about family too. While the actor may not have gone through a lot of what Callen has gone through, I think he has done him a lot of justice to make Callen an incredibly deep and passionate character while all the while keeping him strong and at times, very dangerous!

Callen’s Corner: Bratty Moments

After watching “Parley” I’m bumping this post to the top again and re-opening the comments… Bratty much, Callen ??

Well, it’s true. G Callen has his bratty moments.

Almost like a girl wanting her chocolate. Look into my lovely eyes. Go get me chocolate. Now. Please. Thank you.

Yes. Take that moment of “I want it,” or the feeling of it, or the essence, whatever, and think about all the times you’ve watched our blue-eyed hero dance through danger, brandish his gun, go head-to-head with Hetty, and be, well, himself. You can’t deny it. I can’t, either: G Callen has his bratty moments.

brat1I really think that his first love is being difficult. Cheeky, if you will. But lets think back. There was that one time when Sam was talking about his whatever-whatever-grade safe beneath his livingroom floor where he keeps his valuables. Remember the Michael Jackson glove? The one with sequins? Remember how G tried to get Kensi to say something negative about it, and failed miserably? That face. That look that he gave Sam after Kensi replied, “King of Pop?”

The Brat Denied Face.

brat2
What about the time G introduced us to Arkady? Remember, Arkady climbed into his limousine and there Callen sat, gun drawn, tense, but faking calm? G greets the Russian, his blue eyes accusing.  “Hello, Arkady.”

The Brat On A Mission Face.

brat3
The Horse paper basketball game. Where Sam had ‘H’ and Callen had ‘H-O’ (or was it the other way around?) and they were trying to out-do each other. Callen calls his shot and makes it. The look he gives Sam.

The Brat.

brat4The ultimate example? Included Deeks. Don’t widen your eyes like that. You remember it, too. The episode name was “Fame.” There was a certain credit card involved. I believe it was a sleek, black credit card. Hetty had granted it for the undercover operation at that ritzy club. Deeks was threatened with a letter opener not to allow more than $5,000 on that card. Hetty meant business. When Callen figured it out, he said, “Some people have to learn the hard way.” Then he smiled big and ordered two more $1,000 bottles of champange.

Brat.

I know that you’re thinking about it now. You see it, too. Well? Don’t just sit there. Be epic and tell us what bratty G moments you recall in the comments.
